Aware of the essential value of their human resources, EFFBE and GAMMA take care to preserve the physical and mental health of their employees and ensure that they work in complete safety. A range of technical and organisational preventive and corrective measures are put in place for both activities to keep accidents, near misses and illnesses to a minimum. Every employee is actively involved, because they know their tool and their work area. As part of a participative approach, it provides input on ways of improving working conditions, in particular via “idea sheets”. Particular attention is paid to social dialogue, a subject that is all the more important at EFFBE and GAMMA given their culture as family businesses.

Risk prevention at the organisation is governed by nine simple & extremely important general principles.
They are applied at all production plants:
- Eliminating the hazard or exposure to the hazard
- Assessing the risks present in production areas and reassessing them as soon as organisational or technical changes are observed
- Integrating prevention into the project phase
- Adapting work to people by equipping ourselves with the most ergonomic tools available
- Keeping abreast of technological developments
- Drawing up a chemical substitution plan
- Planning prevention by involving all risk prevention stakeholders
- Putting in place collective protection measures and personal protective equipment to complement them, if necessary
- Informing and training staff, giving them appropriate instructions.

Obtaining ISO 14001 certification for the entire WOCO Group is proof of the desire to extend the Quality approach to all entities, including EFFBE France. In this way, it can benefit from best practice and feedback from WOCO’s international plants.
